During this 6-hour workshop, students will learn learn five staple structures of the bookbinding world: two versions of one-sheet wonders, accordion folding, pamphlet stitch, and a Japanese stab binding.
If you’ve been curious about book arts basics, this is a great place to start. You will come away with a handful of beautiful blank booklets and a wealth of skills you can bring to future projects.
There will be a lunch break as well as multiple stretch and snack breaks. Please be conscious that cleanup and putting tools away is every students responsibility, it does take time, and is part of the full experience.
Sunday, March 2, 10am - 4pm
Instructor
Bettina Pauly studied in the Book Arts and Letterpress program at the Academy of Art University San Francisco. In 2011 she started teaching book arts and letterpress classes at the San Francisco Center for the Book.
She loves books and boxes both as physical objects and as containers of meaning. She is interested in a variety of folded, sewn and woven structures in which she can incorporate her printing. Her work is presented in national and international collections. Bettina just moved to Sebastopol and is excited to work in her own studio space as well as starting to teach classes in the North Bay.
