Tunnel Book Structure
Tunnel Book Structure
Full day workshop | Cost: $265 all materials included | Limited to 6 students
*Partial scholarships available, for more info click HERE Please apply 30 days prior to date requested.
In this daylong workshop, students will step into the fascinating world of tunnel books—a captivating art form born in the Renaissance to explore the depths of perspective. Sometimes called "peephole books," these creations are like miniature 3D theaters, crafted from an adapted accordion structure with layered panels bound on both sides. When viewed from the front, the panels come alive with a mesmerizing sense of depth.
In this hands-on class, you’ll design your own tunnel book using personal photos, postcards, and collaged to create a unique and personalized book. After attaching the pages to the accordion fold that holds them, the tunnel book will be glued into a simple cover for a finished book.
Paper, book cloth, museums board, and additional collage materials are provided.
For daylong classes, there will be a lunch break as well as multiple stretch and snack breaks. Please be conscious that cleanup and putting tools away is every students responsibility, it does take time, and is part of the full experience.
Sunday, May 4, 9am-5pm
